Hijuelas
This site is located in Chile’s Third Region, it has aproximately 300 flat hectares, approximately 5 kilometers north of Vallenar, and 300 meters from T&D lines. Even though this is not coastal site, it still has excellent wind conditions because it’s located on very flat terrain on the higher slopes of the Huasco valley and directly receives coastal winds that are channeled through the valley and into large desertic flatlands north of Vallenar.
Wind measurements are currently underway, and generation capacity is expected to be in the range of 20 to 30 MW
CORFO has approved a government subsidy to take wind measurements on this site.
Punta Alcalde
This is a 600 hectares coastal site that receives excellent SW winds most of the day. The site belongs to CMP, a large Chilean iron mining company that is controlled by CAP.
Xenerco has been chosen to develop this site. Electric generation is expected to be in excess of 30 MW, T&D lines are 5 kilometers north of the site.
CORFO subsidies are currently being requested and wind measurements will begin Feb 2009.
La Jaula
This is a large 6,000 hectare flat 20 kilometers north of Vallenar. This property is held by the Chilean government and land rights for this property have been formally requested.
Wind generation capacity should approach 40 MW, and the site has T&D lines passing through it.
CORFO subsidy will be formally requested once land rights have been finalized.
Wind measurements are expected to begin 1Q 2009.
Punta de Choros
Punta de Choros is a 50,000 hectare farming community, of which approximately 8,000 to 9,000 hectares are suited for wind generation.
This land area was separated into 3 lots, and Xenerco has been granted the right to develop wind farms on one 3,000 hectare lot of our choosing.
This lot feeds wind into a wind farm that is currently being constructed which ensures the quality of the resource.
Formal wind measurements will begin March 2009.
